Knowing that you ARE saved! Assurance of Salvation

The 2×2 Church is a works-based belief system that doesn’t believe it’s possible to know one’s eternal destiny until death. The friends and workers do not have the certainty of salvation that many Christians have.

Believing that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven is the key to knowing you are saved–NOW
True believers ARE SAVED—present tense.
The Bible declares plainly that believers can know NOW that they are saved and will one day be with Jesus in Heaven for all eternity.

This can be proven with Scripture. First are two well-known verses that stress belief.  Notice the verb tenses.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes (present tense) in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (present tense) (John 3:16 NKJV.)

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you WILL BE SAVED (Romans 10:9 NKJV).

This means that if you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior:
You have become a CHILD OF GOD.
You are adopted into the family of God’s children.
The Holy Spirit now dwells inside you.
You ARE born again.  You ARE His!
You ARE ALIVE in Christ!
Your sins have been wiped clean.
You now belong to the Lord of Lords. He is your LORD and Master.
You are princes and princesses of the King of Kings!
You ARE saved and will go to Heaven when you die.
This is who you are in Christ!
You are “in Christ”!

The major theme that runs all through the writings of the Apostle John (the disciple Jesus loved),
was “that you might believe.” He wrote an entire letter (1 John) to assure believers that they are, in fact, saved—present tense!

He declared: These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
that you may know that you HAVE eternal life…
(present tense)(1 John 5:13 NKJK)

This motive permeates John’s writings that are designed to bring people into belief and knowledge of their current saved status. His words are clear – no mystery – no ambiguity – no interpreter needed. Some other assuring statements John made to believers —

  • He who believes in the Son has everlasting life… (John 3:36 NKJV)
  • He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment [condemnation KJV]…(John 5:24 NKJV)
  • He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. (John 11:25-26 NKJV)
  • That you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31 NKJK)

Fear-based faith leaves people afraid they are not doing enough good works and are not good enough to get to Heaven.
Grace is God’s FREE gift of salvation – it’s mutually exclusive of works. As Paul wrote:

For by grace you HAVE BEEN SAVED through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God, not of works…(
Eph 2:8-9 NKJV).
Works earn or merit rewards—they do NOT earn salvation—

True believers are already accepted in Christ.
They don’t have to strive to earn his approval.

They can approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16)

The first stanza of one of Fanny Crosby’s most beloved hymns is:
Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.

You can have that assurance!
You can rest assured NOW that you are saved! The Bible tells us so!
